Congratulations!
Announcing the winners of the VOLE Spring Competition 2025
We’re very pleased to announce the placed and commended poems in our Spring Competition, all chosen by Jeremy Loynes from his short list, which we published last week.
Jeremy, in common with all good judges of poetry, had very hard decisions to make, when finally selecting only 6 poems from the many excellent poems that were entered. He has written in his introduction for the Spring Anthology: ‘I would like to thank all entrants for allowing me the experience of engaging with their work in this way: truly, I was like a child in a sweet shop, spoilt for choice…’
Here are the final results:
1st Place: ‘Mythos’ by Maggie Wadey
2nd Place: ‘Gardens in the Mist’ by Heather Cook
3rd Place: ‘Rules of the Road’ by Alison Mace
Highly Commended:
‘At home with my brain-damaged sister’ by Marilyn Daish
‘Repotting’ by Ted Gooda
‘Sometimes an Eagle’ by Sarah Macleod
The anthology, ‘Can Spring be Far Behind?’ will be published in May and all contributors will receive a free copy by June 1st. Extra copies will be available to order from our website and from bookshops, at £10 each.
